Ice cream therapy helped me. At the end of each day I had a hot fudge sundae with bananas. Eating before you sleep was always a weight gain no no.

Is your appetite okay? Do you need an appetite stimulant?

If it's a matter of just adding extra calories add a Boost or Ensure milkshake, cream soups, butter, pastries, sour cream, protein shakes.

I'm very interested in learning what others recommend.

I have been trying to gain weight myself. My doctor prescribed a couple different things to help my appetite Megestrol and a steroid. The steroid really seemed to help me. As far as type of food anything with a lot of fat content is going to help. I usually have to force myself to eat though. Good luck

I have to force myself to eat as well. I find soup the easiest to get down.

I have no appetite and have been using Enlive twice a day. I have found macaroni and cheese goes down easily and is fattening. I make a protein drink with egg whites and I add peanut butter. I just cant seem to get myself to eat meat. My Dr. wants me to for the protein but just chewing it upsets my stomach.

My oncology nutritionist recommended Boost Plus or Ensure Plus ans Scandishake. I had to order the Scandishake online.

I bought Enlive made by Ensure. They taste good and are nutritious. The best part is they are little and easy to get down.

I like Denzie's idea! When I was on a drug that caused me to lose weight, I also had a banana split every night before bed. My suggestion is to sneak a few snacks in each day and to make them high calorie. Cheese or peanut butter on crackers, toast with butter& peanut butter, some nuts, a bit of dark chocolate. Also add calories to your liquids. If you drink coffee, add some hot cocoa mix and half&half to your morning cup. Laura4 has good advice above to emphasize fat over sugar as you add some calories to your daily diet.
