Think of the worst cold or flu you ever had and how hard it was to breathe. Did you feel like you were drowning in mucous? If the answer is yes then that is what its's like.

Are you having trouble with something right now? Have you had a recent chest X-ray?

How long has this been going on? I'm wondering if this might be onset of new allergy.

Do you have other reasons to suspect it's cancer- sudden weight loss or pain that doesn't let up?

Lung cancer is called the silent killer because there are no obvious symptoms until it late stages. A lung cancer large enough to cause symptoms would likely show up on an X-ray.

I hope this helps relieve some of your anxiety.

Hi Shannon, Cancer does not always show up on a blood test. Ask for chest x-ray. That's how my doctor found my cancer.

Hi Shannon, You talk about being breathless is that correct? Have you seen a pulmonologist recently or at all? I first had breast cancer which resulted in a double mastectomy in 2013. Now I am being treated for small cell lung cancer for the third time. I also have emphysema with COPD. I see my pulmonologist every few months. She is giving me medication to keep my lungs as clear as possible - inhailors (4), nasal sprays, and something to control my cough. The meds really do help with breathing, congestion, and my cough which used to keep me up at night. The meds do not interfere with my cancer treatment.

You said you have had a weird feeling for weeks. Have you talked to your doctor or nurse about it?
