Cammfam4, Just make sure you okay it with your medical team first. I say that because, first of all (as you probably know) supplements aren't regulated, so we just don't know for sure what we are taking. Secondly, anything extra you take can interact with Tarceva, just like any other medication might. You just have to be cautious.
I think an easy way to go would be to call: 1 (877) TARCEVA — available 7 days/week
Chat Now — available 6AM–5PM PT, M–F .
They are the experts and are always very happy to help.
I can't answer specifically, but my oncologist and dietitian at the cancer center do not want me to take any supplements except a daily folic acid and omega three/multivitamin. I even have to be careful not to take any additional vitamin c because the supplements are simply not regulated and hence can't really know what you are getting and possible interactions with my chemo (Alimta). But I do try to eat lots of high antioxidant and healthy foods (berries, red peppers, mushrooms, fish) to get the nutrients I need without going to a supplement. I do wish some research dollars could be use to better explore impact of diet/supplements etc
Yes, I agree I think there is a lot to be said for natural supplements but doctors have note be trained to know much about it Thanks for your reply. Take care,
