Can anyone tell me does LE spread to other parts of the body. I have it in both legs but just asking as i have heard it can,

It is very individual but can usually be kept under control if you are self managing and keep your weight under control.

Hi Nita, if your question is does lymphoedema spread in the same way that an infection/virus can spread around the body then no, Lymphoedema is due to a physical 'malfunction' of the lymphatics either because they were not present at birth or due to surgery - it is possible that where these affected areas previously coped with drainage - a trigger such as an insect bite, cellulitis could overwhelm them leading to new areas of swelling

Hi. Thanks for the answers, both answers helped greatly, ags arlthough i was sure it wasnt like an infection in the way it goes round your body. but thanks anyway.

I think maybe its where Ive maybe bumped it or had a bite or something as my legs havehe swe become really painfull and itchy and i cant seem to do anything that helps.

Hi I have have Lymphoedema and Lipoedema in both legs, however I find that my arms swell more in the heat and I have not been able to wear my jewellery rings and watch for several years. The nurse are keeping their eyes on my arms but at the moment I am not wearing any support sleeves. When I was diaganosed I was told I was born with this condition after years of misdiagnosis by various medical staff

I have primary LE in both ankles feet which spreads to my legs when on my feet for too long. 6 yrs ago I had a big swelling underneath my armpit life the size of an egg. I saw the GP who arranged for me to have a scan at the hospital and was told to wrist my arm to allow the swelling to go down. Luckily the swelling was not cancer but related to LE the lymph nodes also on the same side my neck and shoulder was very painful.

The swelling is still in my armpit but has reduced in size considerably but I am not able to life heavy objects or carry anything in that arm as the swelling gets worse and I can only manage to iron a few things so it is complete life changing. Now I have been told the LE has affected the abdomable region and I have to go to the toilet every 2hrs and wake every 3hrs for the need to get up and go to the toilet every night. So no wonder I get exhausted.
