I heard on a video the other day and my husband heard it also and we are asking if anyone else has heard this. A doctor was stating that lymphedema does not affect hands or feet. We find this hard to believe. I will get her name. She is supposed to be done kind of expert on lymphedema. Just curious if anyone else has heard this.Thank you
Kathy

I don’t know what video you both saw but I would guess that whoever it was, was actually talking about Lipoedema as this generally does not affect the hands and feet and is completely different to lymphoedema. Lipoedema is fat related and usually affects both limbs and for the most only women, it usually occurs at the time when hormones change so puberty, pregnancy and menopause whereas lymphoedema is fluid related and generally affects just one side/limb. However Lipoedema at its advanced stages can cause lymphoedema as the fat prevents the lymph fluid from moving as it should and causing it to pool at the ankles and sometimes wrists, at this point it is called Lipo-lymphoedema. (I have advanced Lipo-lymphoedema)
As I said above I cannot be sure that this is what the person was talking about but to me would make the most sense. I hope this helps 🙂
I have lymphoedema in both lower legs AND feet; a fact acknowledged by the consultant vascular surgeon at the local hospital and proven by various NHS tests.
I'm so happy you all are on top of this. I missed or wasn't paying attention well enough to catch the lipoedema . Thanks for keeping me straight. I definitely swell in my feet.
Well I never. She has not been doing her reading or studying has she? Some expert! I thought those who believed that the earth was flat died centuries ago. She must be the last of the generation that believes that. Strange.
