Tietze Syndrome.

Hello,

I have been always suffering from pain on my right side of my ribs and I can clearly see that it is pushed in. I had this problem since 2011, took bunch of x-rays and MRI, the doctors couldn't find any problems and they said it's because of how I sit and such. So, since 2016, I have constantly been working out and I still have the pain. So, last year a doctor from Korea finally said I think its Tietze Syndrome and he didn't give me any medication or anything and just told me to take pain kills when it hurts. But, I took too many pain killers already and I don't want to take it anymore, sometimes the pain is so bad that it really feels like someone is stabbing my chest and ribs. Does anyone have any advice to make this pain get better? or treatments?

Hi chrisk013. Your diagnosis by the Korean doctor is interesting to me. I've had bad mysterious pain just above my waist on the right for many years, especially when bending to tie my shoes. So did my siste who is now deceased. Mine is not pushed in.

My primary doctor checked my gallbladder (found it is hyperacive), but she believes the pain emanates from the junction of ribs/sternum and is likely osteoarthritis which I have in my back, knees and hands. I fell on the sternum in the late 1980s and had a year of ongoing really bad pain there. Did you injure your chest at all?

Probably nothing I've said relates to you, but I really want to say that I hope you get it figured out soon! Blessings.

I never had any injuries. Just one day, I noticed that it was pushed in and since then it started have pain. It might be slipped rib syndrome.

I have had the same pain since 2000 when I had a bad chest infection. Doctors ignored it. Had a right side mastectomy 3 years ago and the Surgeon said definitely nothing to do with the cancer Queried it again with my doctor a few months ago and he sent me for a chest X-ray to see if there was a bone problem after having cancer. No problem. He said the problem is probably arthritis where the ribs meet the spine. Could refer me for pain killing injections or give me medication which has unpleasant side effects. I declined both. As long as it isn't cancer I will put up with it as it isn't constant pain.
