Hi lizmurphy61

I would get these checked out by a lymphoedema nurse or the like.

I have lymphoedema and encountered blisters.I dressed them myself but they had become bigger and water started leaking from them.As the skin was punctured it became an outlet for water to leak and became a huge problem which has taken months to dry up.

It may be nothing but if it progresses it will become a bigger problem get it checked now,if it can be krpt under control now that is fine.

take care..

Thanks for this info. I have blisters developing. Thought it was just long-term side effects after Tamoxifen etc. but now realise it may be more, so am off to try and get them checked.

It may well be just side effects but mine have developed into ulcers.I am now in long term compression stockings and bandaging and if you can avoid this then do.

Its worth an appointment just to rule out the nasty stuff..

All the best.

Thanks - have appointment at hospital tomorrow, so thought it would be sensible to get blisters checked out whilst there. We are supposed to be responsible and all things sensible, but phone my supposed 'supporting' CNS, who made me feel I was being silly. But am going anyway.

Never feel silly. It has obviously concerned you enough to ask about it so check it out veriterc even if just to rule out the nasties.

You have done the right thing.

Hope it all goes ok.

Good luck tomorrow

Yes, agree with previous comments - go and get it checked - and PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO 'POP' THEM!!!!!!

Hi Liz - is that blistering in your thigh? Are you wearing compression over that area? If the lymphoedema isn't compressed, the fluid can build up and blisters can form - and if they leak, it is an open area of skin where bacteria can get in and cause infection. Call your lymphoedema clinic to discuss. If the swelling and blistering has occurred suddenly, probably best to go to a clinic/doctor/emergency room quickly in case something has blocked up (eg blood clot). If you feel unwell and your leg is getting warm/red, see a doctor ASAP (signs of cellulitis). Hope you can make those blisters go away ASAP. Let us know how you get on with this.

Was hoping to give report about 'my' blisters. Had an appointment at Marsden at Sutton, so ideal opportunity to get them checked out - so I thought. Phoned at beginning of week. Phoned through to ask if a nurse could cast a quick eye, then when I arrived phoned through to Lymphoedema Dept. to check how to get there. Nurse spent 10 minutes on phone telling me why they were far too busy to see me. It would have taken 30 seconds to tell me "you are fine" or that I was right to be concerned, and make an appointment to come back. This is hospital where nurse told me off: "you are ONLY a patient".

I am going to St. Thomas' for hydro this week, so will ask their Lymphoedema nurses. It's obviously something wrong, otherwise it would have cleared up by now,

Hi,

Sorry you don't seem to be getting anywhere or much help.

I have multiple blisters on the front of both my legs...Fortunately they only become prominent after my compression has been off for about 20mins. The only time I have had problems is following an allergic reaction to a plaster and they erupted!

I had them dressed at my GP's surgery and was given an extra course of antibiotics. I eventually dressed them myself after instruction, it took about 2 months before they cleared up .

I hope you can get yours sorted and they don't burst...Perhaps a visit to your GP nuse would be able to advise.

Best wishes
