Has anyone heard of the drug sildenafil being used as an anti-inflammatory for lymphedema? I saw a clip from Stanford University being excited about a oral tablet trail they were doing but I can't find what they were using or what the results were.

At least there shouldn't be a lack of the drug for testing :)

SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD BE A POPULAR TREATMENT IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE . YES ITS VIAGRA AND IT HAS MULTIPLE USES - FIRST USED TO TREAT PULMONARY ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION A NASTY PROBLEM WHERE THE USED UP BLOOD FROM THE CIRCULATION IS OBSTRUCTED IN ITS PATH TO THE LUNGS TO GET RE-OXYGENATED.

THIS BY THE INFLEXIBLE BLOOD VESSEL CAUSED BY AN ENZYME CALLED PDE- 5 - SILDENAFIL BLOCKS THIS ENZYME MAKING THE ARTERIAL SMOOTH MUSCLE STIFF.

I THINK THE LYMPH SYSTEM RE-ENTERS THE CIRCULATION UP THERE SOMEWHERE.

JUST GOOGLE UP STANFORD UNIVERSITY AND KEY IN SILDENAFIL WITH IT AND YOU

WILL GET HEAPS OF ARTICLES ........ JUST OFF TO GET SOME NOW .

The drug that Stanford is testing is ketopfrofen. They have had amazing results and are expecting to publish something within a year.

Sorry--the spelling is ketoprofen. journals.plos.org/plosone/a...

WOW , THANKS LISAGP - IT WILL TAKE ME A DAY OR TWO TO GO RIGHT THRU THIS PAPER - BUT AT FIRST GLANCE IT LOOKS EXCITING AS YOU SAY . ANGIOGENESIS IS A 2 WAY STREET BUT THE INCREASING ROLE OF CYTOKINE AWARENESS OPENS MANY THERAPEUTIC DOORS .

AS USUAL THERE ARE SOME NEGATIVES ... AND GETTING OLDER AND TOO MUCH BOOZE ARE FRIGHTENING .

KETOPROFEN AND SILDENAFIL SOUND LIKE A MARRIAGE MADE I HEAVEN .

THANKS AGAIN

We met with Dr. Rockson in April and he said that 95 percent of the people in his trial had seen a reduction in their lymphedema. He was very excited about the prospects. There are some side effects, however, and it is not for everyone -- but it sure seems hopeful!
