Used for lymphoedema?? My aunty is prescribed this drug for heart failure!! She wondered if it would help with my lympho?? I think not!!! Seeing as lymph is not exactly water retention is it?!?! And she's a nurse!!!!

Absolutely not. My mother had primary lymphoedema in both legs and was prescribed this drug for many years and it did NOTHING! It is used as a diuretic to treat water retention NOT lymphoedema. I think this is a case of the fairly common ignorance exhibited by some health professionals. Rather disheartening.
*shakes head* tsk - that was one thing Prof. Mortimer reiterated at the LSN patient conference on Sat. NO to water tablets for lymphoedema! Honestly we have to be bloomin medics ourselves!
Aye, we need to become better and better informed so that we are the 'expert patients' but unfortunately a lot of medics think they know better!
