Is there a difference between Asthavent and Venteze?

I have exercise induced asthma/bronchospasm. I also have a heart condition - so because of the heart I was using Ipvent (Ipratropium Bromide) until something caused it not to be available in South Africa any more. So since then I used Venteze for a while and when that inhaler ran out I got Asthavent. I don't know if these are international brands so have put links to them below.

The Venteze prevented/controlled my asthma well, but the Asthavent doesn't - does anyone know if there is some distinct difference between the two brands that may be causing this difference? Or could this be a signal that my asthma has changed and I should seek medical opinion on it?

Hi Jonathan. I’ve just checked the links you provided and both of these brands contain salbutomol, which is a short acting bronchodilator. These will open your airways, but the effects only last for up to 4 hours.

I think the difference is your original medication lasts for twelve hours.

I think you need to see your doctor and ask for a preventer inhaler.

This would explain why your asthma is not so well controlled.
