Social anxiety- small talk and all

I hate my social anxiety so much. I’m so bad at small talk and it affects my work life and social life cuz people think I just don’t wanna talk when really it’s so hard for me to Make convos. I’m a people pleaser and go above and beyond to make everyone happy. I over heard a coworker talking about me saying “she just does her work, gets it done and leaves without talking to anybody” ugh that bothered me so much. Like I hate when people are so insensitive and don’t take into account what if someone’s dealing with social anxiety. Any similar experiences ?

Hello :-)

I really struggle having conversations especially if I do not know someone very well then I hate it !

The people at work seem very rude and not worth a second thought , even though I can find it awkward speaking to people I do have that kind of personality where I will speak out and I would have replied had I overheard that comment by saying

" Yes I am quite , I have social anxiety and comments like that really don't help ! "

I bet that would have left them red faced !!!

Always someone pops on here to talk to and maybe you can express and talk more on here as it can be easier when it is not face to face we can feel more relaxed :-)

Take Care x

If this is really bothering you then change your ways. Life is about making mistakes and learning from them. Whether you think they r mistakes or not do something. I used to be a people pleaser too. I know how that feels. It feels like crap. Guess what? Dont be. Focus on building your self esteem. When u do that you wont care about what people do or say bc who gives..lol

Oh by the way Ive had social anxiety too. It's a crappy feeling and Im sorry u suffer so. Try to seek therapy it really works. Take care of yourself.

Lifetime anxiety disorder over here, and I would get anxious about reading aloud in class, back in grade school. I wouldn't raise my hand because I was so anxious I didn't want to speak in front of my classmates. Something that's helped me a lot is reading out loud. I've been reading to all my dogs for over a decade and reading to them and talking to them helped a lot. Talking out loud saying anything I want to someone who won't have anything but a positive reaction was so helpful. Even if you don't have any pets I've seen some programs where local humane societies have days when volunteers can read to the animals. Mutually beneficial, and talking or reading to a sweet adorable face seriously helped with anxiety and raised my self confidence. No one's perfect, I still stumble over words but I don't get as anxious about it. It's always helpful to practice and have some good go tos for small talk. I love talking about my family or people I know because it counts as opening up, but it doesn't make me as anxious as talking about myself. And it helps me feel more confident talking about the people I love because it reminds me they are there for me and they will literally not care if I make a fool of myself. Good luck!
