Just found out the guy i had a brief relationship is in actual fact bisexual and HIV+ which he didn't tell me. Slept together end of February he was very rough and i bled afterwards, went and got tested last week and just got results "negative" do i have to get tested a 6 months if its a definite exposure, have heard it can take awhile for it to show in people with immune problems. Please advise.

Hi Gabby... you probably are going to be fine, but I would definitely recommend getting retested. Do you know what his viral load was like when you had sex? If he has been religiously taking meds to treat HIV, like myself, chances are he is undetectable, or has a viral load so low that it would take more than one exposure to cause concern.
I believe the length of time he has been HIV positive makes a difference as well, since recent exposure often results in rapid viral growth—and greatest risk of infecting others.
I caught mine from a young man who wasn’t aware he’d been infected so my viral load was around 78,000 when I was tested a month or two after we had been having unprotected anal sex back and forth. I am assuming you didn’t test positive for an STD like syphilis (as in my case) since that’s how the HIV virus loves to tag along.
Anyway, best wishes to you. Sorry he wasn’t upfront about his status but it might be worth asking about what his viral load was like in February to help put your mind at ease.
Hi Nick thanks for that, all tests (had a full mot) came back clear. I confronted him about his status and he denied he was positive, that means nothing as he's lied about so much think he's a psycho as he sent me texts saying I had the plague when I got ill end of March and ended it with lol and so we'll never be apart now, sicko, so don't know if he was playing mind games but have a rash on my chest, face and back which won't clear up and thrush. Going to retest in August and fingers crossed I just had a brush with a psycho, will be more vigilant in future.
If he was undectable it’s most likely your are fine. Go get tested to be sure.
I aim to Mike, done 3 month 4th Gen test will do another at 6 month to be certain, though I've heard of people can seroconvert in rare cases over the alloted "window period" which is worrying read once case on here a girl had an exposure in 2014 tested till December 2015 was diagnosed in 2017 and had had no exposures since 2014 that was on HIV partners.
