My grandson is now 5 and still has speech difficulties. (Neuromuscular issues)

Has anyone ideas on how this might progress? Will he be able to articulate in the future.?

He can say some words and pronounce consonants, such as "n" "d". As in "no" and "da"

He is attending kindergarten/ playschool and gets on well.

However- his lack of vocalisation can lead to his frustration by people not being able to understand what he is saying.

I feel so much for him, I could cry.

Has anyone a similar experience.?

Will he be able to speak eventually?

Thanks so much for reading this far.

Hi there, although my son didn't have the added complication of 'Neuromuscular issues' he did have difficulties communicating and his frustration turned to anger. We were advised to learn sign language 'Makaton'. There were free courses available for family and it was taught in pre-school for him. This was very useful and helped us all, plus it was good fun for all the family (including 3 older siblings).
