I just got diagnosed with PBC today the doctor said it’s very early stages and wasn’t concerned at all. He said it can be treated with medication now and is a common thing, however (and I know you shouldn’t google!) but researching the condition has me very worried. Should I be worried? Will I die younger than if I didnt have PBC?

Hi
Your doctor is half right.. PBC can be controlled with medication such as URSO etc.. medication slows down the progression of PBC but not treating it ( there is currently no cure for PBC)
Also PBC is still considered a rare autoimmune disease so not sure why your doctor said it common..
I was diagnosed around 3 years ago at 35 years of age which is considered young to have PBC, It normal to worry about having a liver disease but I have learned NOT to worry about something I can’t control as stress fuels the disease.. just eat healthy and drink plenty of water and try to live as normal as you can with a positive mindset and you will be ok 🙂👍 Best Wishes 🙂
