ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins

I’m waiting for an appointment for this after 9 months of swelling in my lower leg. Having lipodema I’m nervous of how tender my leg is,has anyone else been through this process ?

I had foam scierotherapy and micro scierotherapy in 2013 2014 I was a ceap score 1. I am now a ceap score 3, have venous reflux, legs covered in veins, much worse than I started with and in my case legs got larger and larger. Eventually I was diagnosed with lipoedema which can be triggered by venous reflux, trauma or puberty, hormone change. Some fluid indicates lymphedema and pain in the knees is arthritis which these conditions can lead to.

I wish I hadn’t had it done.

There are a few articles and nice guidelines which discourage people who have lipoedema to have vein surgery.

Do you know what your ceap score is?

Google it, it gives guidance to what treatment you should have. I was 1, I didn’t know at the time, the surgeon gave me a procedure for ceap score 2 plus

if you google lipoedema and varicose vein surgery a worse prognosis its an article that you should read.

Does not sound good, my lymphodema clinic said my leg will only get worse if I don’t have it done, I’m very torn on what to do 😱

Have you been to St Georges London? They are the leading specialists for lipoedema and lymphedema. Could you ask for a referral and then see what they say about vascular surgery.

I’ve got an appointment for 24th October, for the surgery through the GP, he wants me to go, so he won’t refer me elsewhere 😏

Perhaps if you discuss the article with the GP you can ask to be referred. The lymphedema clinic at the Churchill Hospital. Oxford referred me, the GP wasn't involved at that stage. They are the leading specialists and have been given a grant to research lipoedema, he probably isn't aware of this. You could also possibly pay privately to see the experts at St Georges that head it up.

During horrendous. After pain is like a dull nagging headache in my legs. Stabbing pains.
