I’m a idiot!!!!

Morning

Well it official, I’m an idiot and decided to sabotage my LCHF eating plan.

It started with a few bottles of cherry Pepsi max (I stopped drinking this maybe 8 months ago) then washed down with bags of crisps, and this is a nightly occurrence, (only at night) in fact this has been going on for weeks now.

Well it’s caught up with me, and I feel absolutely dreadful, my skin is spotty, I’ve got a constant headache, I feel tired, no zest for anything, basically a zombie. I’m so cross with myself.

It’s all self inflicted, but today it stops, no more crisps or Pepsi back to eating better. I need to stop buying this rubbish!!!!

I know the connection is emotional eating, as unfortunately, I’ve lost a close family member on 11th April that happened suddenly and not to coronavirus.

At the moment no funeral arrangements have been made and attending numbers will be limited when the funeral is arranged.

I can’t control any of this, but feel awful as I know many people want to attend to pay respects, and it would be full of flowers.

Obviously, like everyone else routine is out the window and I’ve tried to avoid the news as I feel hopeless with the situation.

There are people in a worse situation than me, absolutely, but why do we decide to sabotage all the good we do. I try and keep busy going for a walk, checking on my elderly neighbours, etc

Can anyone send a link to how bad diet drinks are as it maybe the wake up call I need, and words of encouragement.

Take care & stay safe.

You are not an idiot. You are a human being!

Under the circumstances, I'd say a bit of comfort eating is understandable and excusable. I think Mike hits the nail on the head there.

You've got your diet under control now. Be kind to yourself as you deal with your loss.

I have lost over five stone - and got down to BMI 25 and 14% so I did not feel guilty about treating myself to a Peppermint Magnum today.

Some days I even eat after 14:00!

Be gentle on yourself first ☺️I attended a talk today given by a doctor about reducing stress in these times and he suggested we take time to simply be, by breathing in slowly and exhaling slowly. Grieve for your lost family member and when you feel up to it, make a plan about how to start on your weight loss journey again. I include below an article about sugary drinks as you requested. Good luck 🍀

You have a lovely forum to get that off your chest and share a great learning experience on how bad it has left you feeling ....great lesson on just how poisonous that CRAP is!!!

Definition: Carbonated drinks, Refined sugars, Artificial foods, Processed foods. facebook.com/photo?fbid=658...

As others have said these are challenging times. Have you thought about trying a glass of wine accompanied by some nice cheese when looking some comfort food and drink? Virtually no carbs so does not mess up the metabolism and the cheese is satiating and replaces that CRAP .

Many thanks for your reply.

I’m T- total on the alcohol, but love the cheese idea.

Best wishes

My BF was a soda addict. After all my talk being ignored, I set out to make delicious replacement drinks for him...flavoured teas, smoothies, yogurt drinks, coffees and he has kicked the habit. He says his sleep has dramatically improved. He has lost about 30 pounds and looks 15 years younger.

In sums, make yourself something delectable! (But healthy 😊).

It's good self-love!

Sorry for your loss Peanut. Not a great time to have to deal with anything like that so be kind to yourself. Reach for the cheese. It’s really great for dealing with those cravings and as you get better with your lchf eating and your cravings subside, you can ease back on it a bit. All the best 😊
