Excuse me, but what in the name of God does race have to do with anything here?

This forum is for any one regardless of race, colour or creed, and I would suggest you will get the best of it by remembering the fact!

I would humbly suggest that race is a big factor to play because until very recently diabetic research has been done on caucasians an my isn't about race politics but about our different our different genetic make up

Apologies - I see what you're getting at - though a better choice of words would have avoided my robust response.

Yes, there is a genetic factor in Afro Caribbean communities, as there is in the Asian sub continent. However, the resolution is the same, keep carbohydrate, especially refined carbohydrate to a minimum and replacing them with natural fats ie LCHF:

Research Jason Fung on Youtube.

Mike sir....

He is right....white have different response to medication than Asians...

As far as d3 is concern all over India ,Indians are D3 deficient...when all over India thru out year lots of sunshine.

Even recommended statin does is less for Asians.

I am not racist ...you are great help to this forum...and after all we are Homo sepian sepians.

Have a look at the book 'Reverse Your Type 2 Diabetes' by Doctor David Cavan. I bought that when I was diagnosed with T2. It is the most inspiring book ever. I bought a blood glucose meter ( wasn't given one by my diabetes nurse) and I used the meter before and two hours after every meal. I recorded everything I ate for every meal and steadily cut out everything that spiked my blood sugar. I spent three months doing that, had an HbA1c test done and I have eaten my way out of T2! I'm pretty sure that if I go back to a carb laden diet I will become diabetic again but at the moment I'm not. Look at the Diabetes.co.uk website, that has a lot of good information on it as does the Diet Doctor website.

And yes, I understand completely why you mentioned your race - some cultures are much more probe to becoming diabetic. There's a very good YouTube featuring Michael Moseley ( The 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet) speaking to an Austrailan audience and he speaks to people from all sorts of different ethnic backgrounds, T2 is very common in aboriginal people as well as people from India (from what I remember)

Hi thanks for your information I think it's time more ethnic research is done on T1 and T2 as one size definitely doesn't fit all
