My wife mRCC Stage 4 since August 2012. She lost her left kidney and it spread to 5 sites. She went for a physical by request of family doctors. She had blood work and was going back to the doctor for results. Before getting to the appointment we were told. Don't bring her to office. Take her to ER. Her hemoglobin was 4.1. She needed a blood transfusion. While there for that they did scan and found two masses, one completely covered the left kidney. and lungs were covered. They did biopsy from lungs which they said was the safest place to do it. Found out that it was Kidney Cancer.

So sorry to hear about the spread of your wife’s cancer. Hoping there is some systemic treatment that will help her.

Has been on one and only one TKI drug, Votrient for #69 cycles(months). (5.7 years). She was on the high dose of 800 mg until April 2018 from then on 600 mg. They cut her down because she is doing so well. It depends on the persons bodies response... She is the pride and joy of her oncology team. Once your on a TKI and it’s working it’s for the rest of life...CT Scan that was done on Friday 9-14-18. I had results Friday night. Cancer remains STABLE. On new protocol of Votrient 600 mg. daily (from 800 mg. daily). It looks like we will stay on the new protocol.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. I had a nephrectomy on my left kidney and was then treated with IL2. It was a horrendous experience but I am now NED. (No evidence of disease). Never give up.
