She will be called for anther check up in 6 months or so. She can't play any contact sports like camoige, soccer etc. I will still have keep an eye on her for any new bruises or bleeding and if so straight to hospital.
My daughter aged 7 had her check up y... - ITP Support Assoc...
My daughter aged 7 had her check up yesterday at hospital. Her platelets were 230 which is normal.
That is great news, a platelet count of 230 is brilliant and very much in the normal range which is anything between 150 and 400. Excellent that you don`t need any further check ups for 6 months but as you say just keep an eye on your daughter for any symptoms. Just look out for tiredness/tetchiness/headaches, any unexplained bruises or bleeding from the nose, gums or in the bathroom. Fingers crossed that all remains well .
The drs told me not to let her brush her teeth, mouthwash alone is not efficient to having a clean oral hygiene. My concern is that in years to come her oral hygiene will be really poor.
As all children, she loves her sweets, chocolate and crisps. Catch 22 situation.
I hate to go against the advice of a doctor but everything I've learnt and read says that ITP patients should brush the teeth as normal. My own dentist said that too.
Chocolate is better than sugary sweets. My children had only chocolate as it is kinder to the teeth.
fantastic news, i bet your over the moon. as for cleaning her teeth we where always advised to ensure our sons teeth were looked after with great care as any treatment would be such an ordeal via the hosp!!! i would agree with CamdenGirl and go against the doc advise on this and brush her teeth the right way especially with a platelet count of 230. good luck i hope all continues well with you. xx
