During the current Covid-19 situation, many of us living with ITP will no doubt have found that the stresses and anxieties that we already endure with our enigmatic autoimmune illness will have been multiplied.
Whilst we all respond and react differently to stressful situations, it is undoubtedly useful to continually update our armoury of coping mechanisms for difficult situations.
The impact on our mental health of living with ITP (or any illness) and then coping with Covid-19 is obviously a major concern for us all.
I discovered the following course (see link below) on FutureLearn (part of the Open University here in the UK). The course is completely FREE to anybody, anywhere & I have already started it and found it very interesting/helpful.
I am only in the first week of the course but already I have gained a better appreciation of how the Covid-19 crisis has impacted different people in many different ways.
I think that like many people I have focused (unsurprisingly) on how the situation has impacted on me and those in my immediate family, friends, colleagues but the course broadens things out in the first week to look at how other groups of people may be impacted in terms of mental health.
The second week will look at coping strategies which I think will be the most beneficial aspect. I will write up an article about it on my ITP blog once I have completed the course.
