anyone know the odds of spleen removal ??

seems removing the spleen can cure I t p but odds not good ??? especially if its not the spleen killing off the platelets ?? there is a scan to identify which organ is the culpert … if its the liver doing the damage they spleen removal is a bad idea ……… jimmy

The splenectomy works for some people my levels fluctuate between 20 to 40 thousand.. have U been tested for h plyroi? Recently studies show its causes low platelets.

sheri .. what is plyroi ?????????? i am weaning down off the prednsione ( 10 mg. ) and see if the promacta can keep me up ????????? do you take meds to keep you at 20 / 40 thousand ??? need a cure ... god bless all .. jimmy

I had my spleen removed and it made no difference to my platelet count. I would advise against having a splenectomy. Nicky
