Hi all

Children come out of it really quick, give them a healthy fruit diet with lots of fresh greens.
Hi, there is no cure at this time but remissions are common in children; see post from jamesheather1 from Austral. James was diagnosed at age 17, received treatment and achieved remission for 10 years during which time he married, had two beautiful, healthy children and lived a relatively healthy active life. Unfortunately he relapsed recently and started treatment for second time and I have no doubt that he will have an other long remission. Your child is young and research is ongoing until then we can only manage ITP as we do diabetics, hypertension and other chronic diseases.
My niece developed hemolytic anemia (autoimmune disease) at six months after a viral infection. She required two years of steroids but completely recovered and is now a healthy, happy, active young woman. Be well
Hi my 2year old son was diagnosed with ITP around 8 months ago but I believe he has had the condition since he was 12months as he was showing all the symptoms. He had a dose of steroids around 6 months ago due to 2 consecutive nose bleeds but this onmy raised his platelets very slightly. They then dropped to 5/6. We were advised he would need a bone marrow biopsy which he had in January. The results thankfully were clear. Since then his platelets have increased to 46 and then to 76 without any treatment. We have another follow up appt in May. I was always more keen to try the wait and see approach and it seems to have paid off. He continues to bruise bit I am praying his platelets continue to increase. We have a long way to go yet but things have finally started to look positive.
Thats such good news! Hope his platelets keep going up and it doesnt return 🙏
Hi hows your son doing now?
