Hyperbaric chamber treatments have raised my platelet count.

I had 20 HYBOT treatments at 2.5 ATA and 100% oxygen. My platelets have been stable at 35K for three years prior to the treatments. A week after treatments my platelets are at 41K. Maybe they will go higher.

Ley's hope. Fingers crossed and thanks for this. Hadn't heard that hyperbaric treatments were good for ITP.

The increase in my count is small right now. It has not fixed the problem, but I am encouraged.

That’s because it’s not please read my last response to James on 2/20/18 and view Dr. Scott Sherr’s podcast #81: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy:)

Good to hear your counts are up to 41K. My counts change weekly from 40-80K until I have an episode of emotional distress/depression then they drop to 14K with no change in weekly Nplate injection. Today I am 66K after five weeks of weekly injections and hope to maintain my baseline. The only time I had a consistently normal count 350K was prior to ITP now count varies weekly depending on my physical and emotional health.

I remaine skeptical about this procedure as I don’t understand the mechanism of your platelet increase or duration. When your doctor publishes his results in a peer review scientific journal, I will reconsider the benefits of HYBOT treatments. In the meantime enjoy the benefits of your increased counts, keep me posted and be well:)

The mechanism of how HYBOT works is simple. There is a 16 times increase in stem cells after a HYBOT treatment program. The stem cells then repair whatever needs repair in the body. ITP has many causes. Too many to say the stem cells fixed thus and so. My platelets were stable at 35K prior to my treatments. My increase in platelets was small and may mean nothing. I am encouraged by the increase and will wait and see if the increase continues. HYBOT is a costly way to treat people, and most people cannot afford it. I am lucky in that regard.

Dear James, thank you for the link to Dr. Scott Shere’s Video on HYBO and as I’ve stated before, I agree with all the benefits of HYBO for approved conditions and am aware on ongoing research for TBI (traumatic brain injury), strokes and ulcerative colitis but NOT for increasing platelet production. I contacted Dr. Sherr and just received his response: “There is no real data on HYBO improving platelet counts. Stem cells, absolutely but not platelets.” In the video Dr. Sherr repeated “ its the increase blood and oxygen flow to point of injury that is responsible tor healing”. Please contact Dr. Sheer, he is accessible and will respond with in 48 hours.

As a patient advocate I must denounce fake, expensive procedures with potential serious side effects and NO benefit to the patient except false hope. FYI, life span of platelets is 8 to 10 days. Be well :)

Hi James, You failed to tell me what TEST was performed to verify a “ 16 times increase in stem cells” after your treatment. In addition, you don’t understand how stem sells work......they do not circulate in your body like robots searching for things to repair! It’s great that your platelets increased slightly, my platelets fluctuate weekly depending on my emotional and physical wellbeing with the help of weekly Nplate injections.

My platelets last Thursday were 66K had I not received 650mcg of Nplate they would be in the single digits this coming Thursday. Are you having weekly counts? If not how do you know what your count range is! There is nothing in the scientific literature that substantiate the claims of your HYBOT treatment program.

You are indeed fortunate to have the ability to pay $3600.00 for 20 treatments; that money would be better spent on research of ITP causes and treatment. As a patient advocate I havea problem with doctors making money pushing unproven treatments to patients desperate for a cure. All I ask is that you demand proof of their claim of “16 times increase stem cells”. Be well:)

I am doing some believing as to the 16 fold increase in platelets. I have no laboratory or scientific knowhow to do any testing myself. I am stuck with believing. What testing have you done to prove there is not a 16 fold increase.

The medicine available to me are not providing any procedure for improving my blood platelet count. I do not think I should just be accept no improvement. I intend to make a personal effort to help myself. You can ask me not to help myself because there is no scientific evidence what I am doing will work. Do you have other suggestions? No. You seem defensive, almost fearful, that what I am doing might be successful. Simply let the result take place. We can play with how it works later. Maybe assign some seven syllable words to describe how it works and appear real smart.
