Hi, everyone. I wanted to ask you how kids with itp can be treated from bacterias. I mean that my 14yrs brother has on its throat streptococcus pyogenes. Does it have any bad effects if he is treated with antibiotics ? Or can this bacteria cause platelets count decrease. I am not really sure if this bacteria can be the cause of his low platelets number. Please if you know any inf. about streptococcus and the relation with platelets. Write me. Thank you all

Some antibiotics can lower platelets, amoxycillin affected my daughter. Ask for blood counts to just check. Never not give antibiotics if they are prescribed. There are different sorts and you will find one that your brother can take!
