Have you had mono?
Special diet?
Drink alcohol?
Anything you think contributed to itp?

I had two extremely stressful episodes just before ITP symptoms triggered. There is a school of thought that extreme stress can adversely effect the immune system... making your body more open to a virus attack.
Hi Mclenna5.
What I have done so far is given up all gluten which I'm sticking to as if I was a coeliac, no cross contamination of food while cooking, if cooking for others I cook my own food first and then the rest.. I've given up smoking cigarettes, I eat loads of fruit and nuts now.. I don't drink much alcohol but if I do, I drink gluten-free beers or apple cider.. Since I started this gluten-free diet almost 3 weeks ago my psoriasis has improved by over 60% and my energy levels have increased dramatically. Being honest with you this is the best I have felt in almost 2 years.. I feel strong again 😊 I'm more active in work which I'm really enjoying. One example I banged my arm into something 3 days ago and I did not bruise, normally when I hit something I always say to myself "oh that's going to be a nice bruise" I'm going to hold out for another 3 weeks before I go and get my blood tests done. Fingers crossed that they will the highest they've been. But I would advise you to go see a naturopath.. That's what I did and so far it's been paying off. I hope this will help you out. Best of luck 🍀
I stopped drinking ALL alcoholic beverages on February 15th. On February 15th my platlets were 36,000. Blood test last week my platelets had risen to 63,000. I also take a Vitamin B-12 tablet and an iron tablet every other day.
I'm convinced mine was related too stress as was going thru a really bad 10 months then was very poorly found my platelets had dropped to 7!!!!
Strangely, stress has no impact on my platelet counts. But any virus or bacterial infection can and does land me in the hospital with counts in single digits. I've tried all the diets -macrobiotic, gluten-free, Atkins, vegan, etc. -for 3-6 months at a time and gave up alcohol completely for 14 years. Zero impact on platelets! I had H. Pylori twice, Lyme disease 4 times plus other tick-borne diseases, and then itp was diagnosed. I most likely had it for years before these illnesses though. Always a bruiser and bleeder.
I had mono @18, have 5 to 6 drinks per year and no special diet and know of no convection with these activities and ITP. There seems to be a connection with H. Pylori injections and immune ITP; my ITP is non-immune nd thus unknown cause. There are many bleeding disorders such as hemophilia, a genetic disease caused by a mutation on the Y chromason, preeclampsia during pregnancy causes a temporary ITP which resolves after the baby is delivered and many other causes. My ITP is non-immune and began with my pregnancy, ? Preeclampsia and uncontrollable bleeding during my C-section which required 4 units of blood and did not resolve with delivery, thus "unknown " cause. Check out mayoclinic.org for more info. Hang in there, be well. Kyriak51
I believe stress has a lot to do with my itp discovery -breaking down the free radicals-I am feeling a lot better but nothing really brings the platelets up too much-eating much better -all fresh veggies and fruit , nuts and more fish-lots of vitamins -c, b , zinc, fish oil, pomegranate extract and magnesium.
Also, I have grown in my spirituality and now focusing on gaining a better, bigger support system.
