I was diagnosed when my platelets were down to 3 - into the hospital. I now take Prednisone which is helping. However, there are many days when I am weak and feel not well. Is this normal?> I also take some serious blood pressure meds. Could these be the cause of not feeling well?

Struggling with the meds.
There is no reason for a low platelet count to make you feel unwell on its own. Two years ago I went to my doctor with petechia on my ankles, a couple of bruises and gum bleeds. It had taken me several weeks after first symptoms before I went to the doctor as I had all my normal energy and felt completely well. My doctor had me admitted to hospital within a few hours as my platelet count was 2. However Prednisone the first med that most get is well known for its side effects and could easily make you feel unwell. Search 'prednisone side effects' on the Internet and you will fine lots on it.
When I was first diagnosed, I was given prednisolone in high doses. This was great for raising my count but made me feel terrible. I felt shaky and weak, had aching muscles and joints, hot flushes and palpitations. It was horrible and I couldn't go to work. These symptoms got much better as the dose was reduced. I still take prednisolone occasionally but in much lower doses now. Try and rest as much as you can and maybe talk to your doctor if it becomes unbearable as there are other treatments they can use.
Good luck, hope you will feel better soon. Janet
I was diagnosed with ITP & very high BP in June '15. I went to a dr. for the first time in 24 years because of feeling poorly, large bruises, bleeding gums, achy sides, major fatigue. His office called the next day, checked my count again, then sent me to the ER. Since then, I'm on 4 different BP meds and still feel fatigued & not so well. I have had prednisone, IVIGs, & Rituxan. My count stays now around 30-40. It was 8 when dx. A year later & my butt is still dragging. I'm no longer on Pred or any ITP treatments. Still feel very fatigued. I wish you better luck.
ITP is different for everyone. Hopefully they'll get you straightened out!
