I have had ITP for many years and take colds quite often in winter, is there anything that one can take to help prevent colds.

Have you tried to take a flu jab
Naturopath recommended that I take Vitamin C in doses of 2-3grams and up (daily), I have tried this and has helped me a lot with my colds. At times when I feel a cold coming on, I start taking even higher (highest I took was 8-9 grams), and it really makes a difference. I just dont have colds that often anymore. Also (and this only when I am sick) I drink half teaspoon sodium bicarbonate with one glass of warm water (on an empty stomach and not on a full stomach!), and this helps flush out the toxins. Hope it helps.
Hi. I have fewer colds which I put down to the over active immune system. However a hot whiskey and honey I find the best when I do get a cold. Vitamin C is good, but do not overdose on it.
Vitamin C, echinacea, avoiding people with colds (especially your husband!!).
I take penicillin twice a day as prescibe by my doctor. I also always get the flu jab, which really helps. Natural remedies include echinacea and vit C (ester) when I feel a cold coming on. I also take a high dose of vit D daily which has been a great help.
Careful! My doctor says that the product "ColdFX" will definitely make my ITP worse. So I get the flu shot faithfully every year. Is seems to help as my body is in better shape when I encounter a bug.
