loss of sight/blind
A clot can travel through the arteries and become stuck in small vessels or organs like the brain or the retina at the back of the eye. This can either restrict or block blood flow, which can result in tissue damage, a stroke, or blindness. Possibly you had two clots, one that travelled to the coronary arteries causing your heart attack and another travelling to the blood vessel supplying your retinas. After any surgery, let alone cardiac surgery, there’s a risk of clots and that’s why you have blood thinning injections.
hey, I suffered from a cardiac arrest when I was in ICU back in September. At the time I was sedated on a ventilator and when I woke up, all I could see were dark shadows. The drs thought I’d gone blind. But I had a few appointments with the eye drs and they diagnosed me with inflammation on my corneas and a really bad eye infection. My sight now is back to normal, so know there is hope out there.
