Induced coma

My partner had a sezuire 2 weeks ago and was put into an induced coma and he has been in it for 2 weeks so far as well as on a vendilater. They had to put him into the coma because they could not get the sezuires to stop, he has been having hundreds of scans/tests to find out the cause but now the sezuires have calmed down they have been trying to wake him up and every time they do they say he's 'agitated' and then put him back under again.. has any got any experience with this and know what it means when they say this and how long it can go on for till they can fully wake him up?

Hi Kglb94 It can take several attempts to wean someone - it took me around 11 days to transition. So don’t panic - if the staff talk about your partner not responding normally - very few of us do respond ‘normally’.

My husband was intebated and placed on ventilator and put in a coma. He also was agitated and bucking the vent. They used anti anxiety drugs and were able to wean him from high sedation.

I would say this is a good sign, my partner was never agitated, over a year later he is still in a care home unable to communicate. I think the agitation shows he is fighting to be alive, just my personal opinion. All the best.
