Hello!

I was rushed to hospital 24/12/20

3days later was put into coma for 10 days

Touch and go for most of the time !

Afterwards, for me felt like the worst time,

When waking up, remembering the nightmares/dreams, which I never knew what was true or not !

That’s due to all the drugs/steroids to keep you alive

I thought I was in Shanghai in China but I wasn’t I was in hospital in London UK icu!

I’m 6ft5 17 stone I lost 4 stone was in hospital for 4 weeks,

You lose about 5% in muscular waste per day while you’re in a comatose state,

I’m still off work!

Been diagnosed with PTSD which now after 4 months leaving hospital finally having therapy.

I’m very lucky and blessed to be here!

Feeling very guilty of being alive, as I’ve seen other younger people around me in the hospital pass away in front of me!

At the time your watching this your thinking your next!

I found this site by mistake,

I’m very happy that I did, don’t feel so alone isolated!

Onwards and upwards x

If you ever fancy weekly drop-ins ( all done on zoom) you’d be most welcome. It’s a relief to find out what you went through was normal.

Hi Husky

First of all you are definitely not alone nor should you feel guilty about surviving.

I am a bit shorter than you but was a similar weight. I was in ICU for about 2 months and for most of that time I was sedated and ventilated and had a trachy. I lost a similar amount of weight and then a further stone was I was home. I had swallow issues and had to learn to talk, walk & eat. I came out in March ‘20 and into lockdown. Now I am back up to 16 ½ stone although I would prefer to be lighter.

I had no support however I found ICUStepsChester- mentioned by @sepsur - and in June started chair exercises over zoom together with yoga for breathing. They also provide a weekly drop in for relatives and an open drop in for all and in particular Ex patients. Whilst we are all different we have gone through similar experiences.

Don’t be put off by the fact it’s called ICUStepsChester as attendees are from all round the country.

with you every step of the way! I was in ICU with covid in April 2020 and although I was in hospital for a much shorter time, I share nearly all your other points. I have found ICU steps Chester a great support. It's been wonderful to realise I was not alone and to be able to talk to others who totally understand the experience. best wishes for your recovery! Pete
