Has anyone here been in ICU with Covid (in particular with ARDS, intubation, coma etc) and then had the Covid vaccination? What was your response if so? We have been invited for our jabs, my husband is 5 weeks out of ICU today and the GP has encouraged him to go ahead for his vaccination. I’m curious (and slightly concerned) about how he may react after being so critically ill with Covid so would appreciate hearing some personal stories if you wouldn’t mind sharing. Thank you

Post Covid post icu vaccination?
HI Lauralou412
My husband was in the 1st wave and had all of the things you mentioned above and more - He had his vaccine about 6 weeks ago . He had the Pfizer jab, he felt a chill , sore arm, tired and a headache. Took 1 to 2 days to clear .
I also had covid and was dreadfully poorly with it , I had my jab about 2 weeks ago ( Oxford) had the same side affects as my husband.
We just had paracetamol and rest . I like you was really anxious about him having it .
I wasn’t a COVID patient but I have seen and heard of different effects from none, discomfort, knocked out for 24 hours and then fine etc.
The best advice is medical and as far as I am aware no one is saying don’t!
My dad was in ICU for 9 weeks and general ward/rehab ward for 3 weeks, he had the vaccine the day before he came home and he was absolutely fine. Think it was good for his mental health to have the jab as he was anxious about getting Covid again xx
My dad was in ICU on a ventilator for a month due to covid in October. He got the Pfizer vaccine in February and only had a little soreness in his arm.
Hi
Go for it! I have had ARDS post Covid. 6 weeks intubated in coma. I had the Astra Zeneca and all was well. An ache in the arm for a couple of days that’s all. Can’t wait for my 2nd dose. Glad your hubby made it and is on the mend.
1 was in I.C.U on a ventilator in March 2020 for 13 days. Had the Oxfod Astrazenica jab on the 12th this March, Next day I felt a bit under tired & had a headache foe about 2 days, then on the Monday my arm was a bit swollen & sore for a few day. All ok now and very happy to have had the opportunity to get vaccinated.👍
Had C-19 in the first wave. ICU for several weeks, induced coma, ventilated. Had Oxford vac couple of weeks ago. Unwell for 3 days. Throbbing headache, fatigue, fluctuating temp. All now well and awaiting second vac. Husband had C-19 same time as myself. Very unwell for a week or so although didn’t require hospital admission. He’s a dr and so one of the first to have Oxford vac 1&2 some time ago. Had no side effects other than a mild headache for 24 hrs.
Wishing you both well.
Following for same reasons. I was in a coma with covid for 5 weeks. 39 days. And in icu for almost 3 months then 2 weeks in a rehab center. I am so nervous about the shot
I left hospital after 63 days after COVID, 21 days were in ICU and 10 days on an ventilator. I had my first vaccination the first week I was released. I didn’t notice any side effects and now await my second jab
