My partner recovering from covid-19 after a stay on ICU

My partner was hospitalised with covid 19 for 5 wks he was put in an induced coma for 13 days, he is finally home very weak, what are the chances of him getting the virus again we have 4 children was due back at school I've refused to send them as I don't want to put my partner at risk, I've rung covid advice, PALS and a load more numbers but no straight answer they just say wait for letter for vaccine. Don't know what to do or who to talk to.

This is not an ideal place to find yourself. In the middle of last year that dilemma ripped up my family again. In the end I chose to isolate away from everyone else so that ‘the house’ could resume to some sort of normality. I realise that not everyone can do this - I’m just telling you what I’ve had to do to keep everyone healthy & sane as possible. I had my first jab 28/1/21 and will get 2nd jab 15/4/21. I will then integrate back into the house ( for my own sanity) The only physical contact I have with another human being is when a surgeon takes a biopsy or a phlebotomist takes blood.

It's such a tricky situation. My husband caught covid while in hospital in November (while recovering from another condition which sent him to ICU for almost 3 months). He came home 6 weeks ago and we decided not to send our little boy to pre-school at first (they have been open since the start of the year) due to the risk of covid. Last week we decided to send him back but only because we felt that the risk was a lot lower (minimal cases in our local area). I had heard that once you have covid, you do have some immunity for a period of time but I can't remember how long for or if this is actually true.

Maybe speak to the school about your concerns to see if they can put any additional procedures in place to protect your family that little bit more. I would suggest that you need to make a decision that you are most comfortable with as I don't think anyone will be able to give you an exact answer.
