Different people take different amounts of time to wake.

Thank you. Im praying its not brain injury but my dad grimaces in pain, coughs and responds to septum rub (to see if he feels pain), hopefully good signs

Hi Dbilingual79, I was in a medically induced coma due to server septic shock for 3 weeks. I had problems waking up as I wouldn't respond to stimuli such as pain or verbal commands and they were worried I have a brain injury. They sedated me again and I had to have a brain scan where nothing was found, I was sedated for several days later and they attempted to wake me up again. It took a few days but once I was extubated I woke up pretty quickly. Everyone is different, hope that helps. Best wishes to you and your dad.

It can definitely take a while. My brother in law was in an induced coma after septic shock and they stopped sedation but it took 10 days to wake up. Doctors were worried saying it was taking too long. They had to several screenings cat scan, mri to make sure they weren’t missing anything. She kept saying he might have had brain damage. And he didn’t. His is perfectly normal. When I say he woke up Aftwr 10 days I mean open his eyes and say a few words. For him to have a conversation it took 2 weeks and almost a whole month to start moving his body, like waving goodbye. He couldn’t lift a spoon at first and even move his legs. Everyone is different but if it’s taking a while don’t be alarmed.
