Prof Hughes is trying so hard to raise awareness of this condition, it's unbelievable that it is such a hard fight. Especially when a cheap test could help so many people and if positive could save the NHS a fortune in wasted visits to other specialities and inappropriate treatments. Not to say years of heartache and illness.

I'm so glad there has been a decent article to make up for the dreadful tabloid journalism in the Daily Mail yesterday!

Yes... it was half a badly written article with essential facts missing: I am glad you have gone after it, you might be able to persuade the journalist to do another one, coming in from another angle! Mary F x

The Mail is an absolute nightmare as they use freelance journalists, rather than staff, who go on fishing trips for about five stories each then only use one - all the rest are wasted. I got fed up of our media volunteers being interviewed for hours, then the story being dropped. We're lucky to have a great publicist and on-side reporters in the Telegraph and Independent, but there's only so much they can write about ... Kx

PS. Thanks for the James le Fanu link too - I do hope he will come to the next Patients' Day - journalists don't tend to bother but fingers crossed!
