My doctor has sent me for blood tests... - Hughes Syndrome A...
My doctor has sent me for blood tests for Hughes are the tests at my local hospital as reliable as the London Clinic labs? Thanks :-)
Yes, of course Just make sure they do all the tests which look for antiphospholipid antibodies:-
anticardiolipin
lupus anticoagulant
anti-beta2-glycoprotein1
Recent research found that not labs were doing the third test, but it is as important as the other two.
Thanks Kate for your response and all the help you have given
I'm sure I will have answers soon .xxx
Well a relative of mine tested negative with the GP who he was testing for APS. With Prof Hughes at London Bridge he tested positive.

SOrry I mean label !! Hehe my brain isn't working so well after my recent TIA xxx
Yes they did. They spent years going around the NHS and then decided it was time to bite the bullet and pay to see the Prof. The only problem with that is his waiting list is 5 months. But there is Dr Kamasta there who believes in seronegative too.
Yes I consistently test seronegative but my daughter a positive test result, and I have had clinical events. Mary F x
Unfortunately most docs are not like our lovely prof. I am negative but have not been retested since diagnosis in 2004. I tend to keep my head down if I can. I have had so many bad experiences with the nay sayers I have lost count. I think a seronegative national campaign would be great but I can still see many docs not agreeing as the like positve bloods.
the prof created a lovey booklet for GP's to help them diagnose the 4 main autoimmune disorders and I took some back to mine who said 'oh they will probably go in the bin, nobody will look at them'.
I would give anything for a positive test, the only thing I remain posistve in is serious anaemia. can't seem to get a handle on that
