Do I need to have my son tested for H... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Do I need to have my son tested for Hughes?
Hi there, if he shows any worrying symptoms then I would, or perhaps in teenage years or beyond, no harm in doing so. However if everything looks fine, then perhaps weight it up! Hope this helps. I have had my children tested as they do have worrying symptoms. Mary F x
I had both my sons tested, one tested positive (bugger), the other is yet to be tested again as he was 15 and the test was inconclusive, it was suggested he be retested again in his 20's, he is yet to have another test he is an adult now and does not have any symptons so I will leave it up to him now.

The Prof says only if there are definite symptoms. It can affect insurances even if the tests come back negative. My daughter could not get mortgage protection, so just a warning.
My Doctor advised my daughters not to be tested unless they showed definate symptoms as they would have problems getting insurance etc.
Yes these points about insurance are tricky... however my hunches about my daughter were correct... better to have had her investigated... however the jury is still out on my son, but seeing he has his daily migraines are back... I will have to go down that route. at some stage. However if my children had not had dizzy spells, lack, of circulation, cold hands, dead legs, extreme migraine, in one child continuous for 15 months and 4 days... I would have sat tight. The diagnosis on my daughter systemic lupus and probably hughes!! by two hospitals... and an eye being kept o my son as they feel due to myself, my sisters, my late father and grandfather, myself etc...and his medical history that even though he is only 13 he is at risk!
If they had no symptoms at all, I would not do the testing!
However a difficult one. Mary F x
Thanks Mary. Spencer has no symptoms but his doctor wants him tested.

Dear People in the Know in the States:
I thought it was illegal in the US for any insurance company to fail to provide insurance due to pre-existing conditions. Have I been mis-informed?

No you are right.
