I went yesterday to see my Rheumy. I have a rash on my eyelids. He thinks it very well may be Dermatomyositis. I said it may take 5 or so weeks to confirm the diagnosis. Meanwhile I need to get cancer tests done immediately. Anyone here with Dermatomyositis? So scared I was shaking yesterday when they were drawing my blood.

It sounds to me like your rheumy is looking for a cause for the abnormal looking eyelids.
Is there a reason for the cancer tests or are you just ruling out the possibility?
I do not have Dermatomyositis, but I do have contact Dermatitis which flares as regular as clockwork on a yearly basis. I am and have been treated annually.
Please do not worry or be afraid.
In my opinion, it is better to find out and seek help, than to worry needlessly and aggravate a possible condition.
Cancer is real common with Dermatomyositis. Well you know how Rheumyies usually blow symptoms off as probably being nothing. My Rheumy was super duper concerned. Thanks for your worrying advice.
Hi there, sorry that things feel so raw and stressful.... and I am glad you have a rheumatologist who is on the ball, and who will probably and quickly put your fears to rest. If not, he will deal with it swiftly, I hope you get your good news really soon, do you have friends and family around to help you take your mind off things? Mary F x
You are so good Mary - you are always thinking of others. I feel shakey so I'm going to work in my garden today. I hoping that will take my mind off of things.
We moved to a new house last year that has great flower beds. I just want to keep them up if I can. Our house is two levels which I'm sure will be a major problem in the long run. I have two teenage boys and it is great for them.
Hi Jean, I know you must be worried at the mo' but try not to, it sounds like you have a good rheumy on the case it sounds like he will find out anything quickly for you.
I hope you are enjoying your gardening, keep that relaxation going
