It’s a great question, Amy.

I’m so glad you asked.

I’m on warfarin, but have a very unusual and lenient bridging protocol with clexane. ( enoxaparin.)

Remember, ( I’m saying this as a disclaimer):

Each patient is unique :

I run my inr unusually high. It’s only after I have demonstrated a DVt by scan that my Inr has been raised.

( or I’ve been switched to a different anticoagulant and failed.)

I had a hematology appointment last week and begged to be allowed to be put on clexane again and was going to suggest Hollys method but was cut off at the knees before I could get the rest of the sentence out...

Hematologist considered enoxaparin in the noac/ DOAC family! ( same arm of clotting cascade... ) I was very confused actually.

I have a DvT now snd he will not shift anticoagulant - Not in pandemic anyway.

( i am due Rituximab in tow weeks- so it’s time for that. He said time to lower antibodies.)

I do understand his concern.

So sorry Kelly about the clot and no change in medication. Were your antibodies high? I hope Dr. Pearl will have you come in for an appointment after speaking to you in the telemedicene appointment.

Clexane twice daily + Aspirin for APS and Keppra for Epilepsy. I did try Plaquenil for about 3 months but didn't seem to help or hinder so decided to drop it.

I am also on warfarin and clopidogrel and have been for the past 5 years 😊

Hi. What is clopidogrel used for?

Anjdur profile image

It is also a bloodthinner, I don’t have the right words in English 😊

I have had a brain clot and several TIA’s and my haematologist, who is also an APS specialist put me on both warfarin and clopidogrel because of that.

She says that clopidogrel is the cake and warfarin is the icing of the cake... 😊

in reply toAnjdur

Thank you. I have never heard of it.

Warfarin and heparin/clexane are anticoagerants, aspirin & clopidogrel are anti platelets.
