Hi, I'm on both these drugs, clopidogrel is an anti platelet and Plaquenil (also know as hydroxychloroquine), also has small amount of anticoagulation but mainly used to help aches and pains, reduce inflammation.

The other thing about Plaquenil is to get eyes checked yearly.

Preferably before she starts Plaquenil is to get a referral to an ophthalmologist, a specialist eye doctor, not an optician and to be seen every year.

With good wishes,

HI, I could not tolerate Plaquenil, due to my mix of disease, however my daughter is on it and doing great. We both take Aspirin which is similar to your Clopidogrel. I hope she does really well, progress to start with on Plaquenil, takes time, weeks rather than days. MaryF

Plaquenil has helped me with many of the minor side effects of APLA, including brain fog etc. It took me about three weeks to get used to it, but that was 5 years ago and its worth it. Just remember that the effect is not immediate, but she'll get there. The most important thing are the eye checks.

My rheumatologist started me on 400mg of generic Plaquenil a few months ago. I was dizzy and nauseous, even threw up a few times. So, with permission from my doctor, I reduced the dose in half (200mg at night). I started getting terrible joint pain (shoulders, knees, fingers, hips) during the night. In the morning, I felt like rigormortis had set in during the night. Again with permission, I went off it for a few days and the joint pain has gone away (except for my right shoulder). It was an odd side effect since I'd read that Plaquenil was supposed to help with joint pain. My doc said to get an eye exam with an opthamologist within the first three months of starting tha drug. I see her again tomorrow along with my hematologist to discuss next steps.

I was taking plaquenil but had to stop when I was diagnosed with glaucoma. My doctor put me on Methotrexate and the glaucoma issue was resolved. If you have a family history of glaucoma it may not be the right choice for you.

Hi I’ve been taking Clopidogrel 75mg since 2007/2008 for APS.

I was on plaquenil for 4 years and it worked pretty well. Then my doctor changed me to Chloriquine 250mg but big pharma stopped making the drug which sucked because it put me in remission. Once I was off both drugs instead of just testing positive for one antibody I tested positive for 3 antibodies.
