Yes pleased and proud for her - I for one wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her.

I had great help through my last two pregnancies, and also see her now, as do some other family members. My clotting history with my first pregnancy was awful, so was glad to have her help thereafter. MaryF

Without diminishing the award given to Prof Hunt, it is glaring that Professor Dr Graham RV Hughes, who has a syndrome named after him and one of the foremost clinicians and researchers in SLE, has been totally ignored. Part of Dre Hunt's knowledge is based on Dr Hughes' seminal work on identifying APS or Hughes' Syndrome. It's very telling how some in the medical word, avoid or even deny the existence of Hughes' Syndrome.

Dr Hughes was "retired" as soon as King's College, London, took over St Thomas' Hospital, London. However, they couldn't prevent him from leading the Rayne Institute's centre of SLE Research, at St Thomas' Hospital. He is the Editor of LUPUS: An International Journal & attends all the major conferences. Dr Hughes has received numerous international awards and accolades from around the world. Yet, not a single UK honour. Why? Dr Hughes, IMHO, should have been knighted for his work. He has saved the lives of untold people and his work has allowed women to achieve what their hearts most desired: a healthy baby.

There ought to be a country wide petition on giving Dr Hughes the honour he deserves.

Yes he does need an award, I thought that this morning, I think if enough people write it would happen. I have actually already drafted a letter. I did it early this morning. MaryF

Well done! What about using Change.org or something like this to urge the Government to recommend, as well?

I think it if more likely to work by letters, so I heard, but not an expert on these things, but lets get the ball rolling. MaryF

Exactly! I put this on here, and whilst putting it on here, had several private messages about this nomination and also on social media. Prof should have an award, no doubt about that, and I am glad Prof Hunt got one. MaryF

I have often thought this, but as it’s not my country I have no idea of the way these things work.

But as you say, Ros, in no way do we diminish this great honor for Professor Hunt.

It’s wonderful that she has carried the work of rheumatology from Professor Hughes forward - into the very specialized field of hematology.

This is exactly what Professor Hughes aimed to do.

As Professor Hughes says very often, “ Ill leave that to the hematologists!” This shows exactly that he knows when he needs to turn it over to a sub specialization. Indeed, a humble, remarkable man.

“Congratulations Professor Beverly Hunt! 🥂”

Many occasions Dr GH used to refer me by saying : “I’ll let him/her hold my hand in case I’ve missed something!” He never did! Once he referred me to a Consultant who diagnosed me with IBS which we both knew I didn’t have! I had Inflammation & vasculitis of the bowel! Very different and this consultant was at St T! Needless to say, he referred me elsewhere!
