Diagnosing APS in Argentina - Message in a bottle

Dr. Hughes had been making a considerable effort to train GPs in diagnosing correctly APS. I felt dismay when a GP first and then an Hematologist from the Argentinian HMS in Rosario failed to order the correct set of blood tests to my husband who went through a stroke one year ago. Because I was diagnosed long time ago of primary APS and take part in this support network I realized what was wrong in the tests prescribe to hiim. I am not sure if I can have a discussion with the specialist or the GP conducing to a reorientation of the tests. Conversations between patient and MDs in Argentina are basically a one way chat where the professional lectures the patient. Of course discussions are not welcome. If this happen we will try to do the testing on our own following the helpful guidelines from Dr. Hugues.

HI, sorry to hear about your frustration over the testing, this paper is always a useful read, I expect you have seen it before: the-rheumatologist.org/arti..., our charity website which I know you have probably seen also features the patient of the month blogs by Professor Hughes, which are also revealing in their information. You will see two specialists listed for Argentina here: ghic.world/about-ghic/index... Obviously the website also included the 'main tests' needed for diagnosis etc. Best wishes from the UK. MaryF
