Healing Autoimmune APS by treating Leaky Gut

Hi

Have suspected MS. No confirmation of it.

Symptoms too similar to APS to ignore so insisted GP test for it. Waiting for first test results.

Has anyone tried healing a Leaky Gut to treat the cause of APS?

I am thrilled this topic is being brought up because I read about it a few years ago and had a hard time believing it. A little while back the topic was brought up again with some research being done by Yale and I thought I would look into it again. I decided it was worth giving it a try. Because of my step mother being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer I have been in Colorado so I haven’t been able to begin with the first steps but I have been on the leaky gut food program and I haven’t felt this good in 17 years. I still have some bad days and my INR is up and down but I feel so much better. I’ll be anxious to be in a place where I can begin the leaky gut program from the beginning.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the courage to bring up this topic so I applaud each of you who did.

I hope it helps everyone who trys it.

Hi, I think all autoimmune disease can be helped by sorting out the gut and so much information about it. I take daily, very strong probiotics, and also avoid gluten, my gut has settled down quite a bit over the years, however I do still have the same autoimmune diseases. I doubt the Hughes Syndrome/APS would disappear but certainly I am better in some respects than I was ten years ago, however I do pay a great deal of attention to diet and exercise on a daily basis. I went up to Cleveland Clinic in fall fo 2015 to consult with their Functional Medicine Department which is under the supervision of Dr. Hyman -- of best selling books fame. I had already gone gluten free in 2004 and all subsequent tests for APS have been negative. All previously high rheumatoid factors fell from sky high to normal, with only the IGg falling from highest to almost normal. Oh! And not anemic for the first time since age 4. At CC I was put on a "detox" diet and pre and pro biodics. And I have had more strength, stamina and focus then I can ever remember having. I have read books by Drs. Hyman, Perlmutter, Bredesen, and others, and I am convinced that our high carb, sugar, and chemical rich diet is to blame for many of our modern chronic diseases. As more evidence comes in there are more functional practitioners out there. You might consider searching for one near you, or commit to a few cross country trips to Cleveland! (They have a relatively cheap, clean and quiet hotel right on the campus.) The most startling info regarding this is the knowledge that there are more of "them" -- friendly bacteria -- then there are of "us" in our body. And for every homronal or nervous signal that goes from our brain to our gut there are several more (forgot the exact number. 10?) that go from our gut to our brain!
