high triglycerides?
There may be a root connection to a lot of blood, hormonal and autoimmune disorders. May be, because: 1, its complicated. VERY. and 2, who wants to fund research that says that how we grow and ship our crops and meats, and what we eat are actually poisoning our whole society? Think of all the money that big corporations would lose! So, no — there are some things we don’t want to know.
Sounds wacky I know. But thats my take. And I’m sorry I can not offer a definite link betweeen the two, but if this is a concern of yours you might look into a detox, aka paleo, aka ketogetinc diet — WITH YOUR DOC’S APPPROVAL — and see if your blood values improve.
It was interesting to read this question today. My PCP just did a blood work up for my annual physical and the results were posted today that my triglycerides were high as well. I have not heard from the Dr yet and am curious what she may suggest.
I am not surprised by this, both my mother and maternal grandmother had high triglycerides. I just thought it would be a few years before my levels were elevated, I have just turned 40.
My family has high triglycerides??? Why
Hi Gillymcgilly,
Are you also diagnosed like us with HS/APS?
There can be a lot of different reasons to have too high triglycerides, but we only speak of those with this autoimmun illness we all have on our site. If you are diagnosed with APS please tell us a little more about yourself and your most usual symptoms.
Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm
I think it is common with APS, but possibly not directly connected - for example it is a known hypothyroid symptom and autoimmune-hypothyroid is common with APS...
There are many other possible causes too, including side effects of medications that we are often put on.
And obviously there is diet too - and sometime not in the way we (or the doctors) expect. I was told (doctors unanimous) to eat a low-fat diet after stroke as my cholesterol was slightly high. After 12m cholesterol and triglycerides were much much higher, packed in the low-fat low-taste approach and went back to a don't-care-about-fat diet (but trying to keep the carbs down, which is also what I used to do), result, cholesterol and triglycerides much lower.
Conclusion - diet/nutrition is a black-art rather than a science, and doctors are rubbish at it.
Hi, it is very possible to have this with untreated thyroid disease, and this can be missed as unfortunately the only test the NHS does is the TSH, which simply is not good enough as it does not give enough detail or accuracy. So when I test, I do mine privately and do several thyroid tests, once my thyroid was treated my levels went down. MaryF
Me too and agree.
