Hi I have temporal lobe epilepsy, I’ve had it for many years. I saw a nuerologist & he prescribed carbamazepine ( Tegratol) it has worked really well for me, I have only had very few episodes since taking it. I have even managed to get my driving license back. Getting over tired has always made it worse so please take it easy and I hope they can get it sorted for you .
I do have temporal lobe epilepsy. Vimpat is very good at control. I was on lamictal first but had Stevens Johnson’s- so that was terrible! I have to be very careful with my plaquinil.
I was on Dilantin next- then the vimpat. But the migraines were ramping up so I’ve switched to 300 mg of Topomax. 1/2 in morning, 1/2 in evening.
Before I was diagnosed — I had a minor knee surgery and the next morning the doctor yanked the shunt out of my knee with no warning. Yeah. It hurt. A lot. And I fell back in a petit mal seizure. The doctor really freaked out and, as I was in the hospital already, my stay was extended while the diagnosiic “what done it” game commenced. Nothing significant was found on scans, but calls to family members revealed similar isolated instances from my Mother’s Mother’s family. So I was dianosed with latent temporal lobe seizure disorder triggered by sudden intense pain. After I was released from hospital I was advised to avoid driving a car as sometimes seizures trigger other seizures within a few weeks. But, I probably did not have any more. “Probably?” you ask. Welll, there was that time when a friend said I hung up on a phone call in a sttrange matter. She came rushing over to my house to make sure I ws OK. I was and had no memory of that phone call. AKWARD.
And since then — nada. Nothing. At all.
