I had an PET scan of my brain about 12 years ago to confirm my diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. No pain. Flew from Minnesota to New York, had the PET scan performed, Flew back to MN all in one day. Got the confirmation the same day. You will be just fine.

hi

I had one done at guys in London about 18 months ago, referred by the same specialist, he's excellent and knows exactly what he's doing so just put your trust in him and you wont go far wrong. As previously mentioned its painless, just take a hairbrush and something to tie your hair back afterwards if you can, as your hair will be a mess afterwards. I think my husband referred to me as Wurzel Gummidge!

What happens to your hair, then?

Did they find anything via the scan?

Hi Fusch

They just put this sticky stuff in little spots on your head to stick the pads to (I don't know the correct medical term so pads will have to do, ive got brain fog today). So when its finished and they remove the pads, some of the sticky stuff gets left on your head, hence the wonderful Wrzel Gummidge look lol! I got a few looks on the train coming home I can tell you.

They did find something from the scan and it ties in with some of the symptoms I have, but the results they got are quite unique, and I think they've said there is only one other person had the same result. Do trust Paul though, he really knows his stuff, and you couldn't be under the care of a better Neurologist.

I got an email from Paul Holmes, saying the PET scan showed under activity in the areas dealing with memory, which he is finding as typical in APS patients
