Would someone be able to help please. I am at Guys Hospital tomorrow and will be having bloods taken in relation to Hughes and Lupus. I think my thyroid will be checked to. I am there for 9:30. I haven't been told, but would I need to fast before the bloods are taken?
Leaving extra early to get there in time!!!
Thank you

Hi Mary. I left mine in the library on Saturday and they shut early! I hadn't chance to get there today. If I remember rightly there was only the apt time and date. I should of been at St Thomas's on the 5th but with the change over to Guys it changed to tomorrow. Thank you. Crista.
I was tested up at Guys the month before last - didn't know until I got there that they would do it - having just had lunch - and it was non-fasting! Good luck. x
I saw Prof Khamashta at London lupus clinic and as I came from Australia I had to be as prepared as possible for my one shot at this. I put together a little folder and included every test and scan and a short time line when strange things happened. When you rock up to an appointment with a new doctor (and my memory isn't great at times!) it's hard to remember some of the symptoms that occurred, that may have been ignored or dismissed, as they passed quickly or didn't make sense. I am lucky to have a good GP and Rheumy (who told me about London Lupus and organised my appointment there.
I have also learnt to be kind to myself. If you're fatigued just go with the flow and rest. (As an active person previously I used to feel guilty taking a lie down during the day)
