Hi

Last week had results of DRVVT back 1.55 !!

a normal persons should be 1.19

Have any of you ever had one this high ?

If so, where your med's changed, and to what ?

Is one 75 mg Aspirin a day enough ? (that's what I'm on)

GP has simply referred me to Haematologist

Many Thanks M xx

Hello

As my colleague, Mary, and I have asked you, do you have a diagnosis of APS/Hughes Syndrome.

Also, we are not medical professionals on this forum and we cannot advise you on doses of medication.

Yes,

dx 17 years ago with aps following 5 consecutive miscarriages

but i was told the aps would ONLY affect me during pregnancy - is that right i wonder now ??

i was given Aspirin and Clexane injections during every following pregnancy

I was told by Pregnancy Consultant that i had to take 75mg Aspirin for life,

and NOT to ever use the contraceptive pill

But GP now says Antiphospholip Syndrome is 'back' ... did it ever 'go away ??

(Im not pregnant! Now will i be as husband had the snip)

Gp gave me DRVVT result last week, Im concerned as i'm only on one 75mg Aspirin a day

M xx

ps im in the uk - Wales xx

Hi, Hughes/APS does not go away, it is good that you were advised about the pill, and to stay on Aspirin, but you may need additional medicinal support. Where are you located and who is managing your care. Do feel free to send the charity website to your GP, or GP's secretary mared for their attention. MaryF

I did not have APS when I was pregnant. But probably you have had APS all the time.

You shall not use the pills. It is a no no. I do not know what DRVVT is. If you have symptoms when you take 75 mg of Baby-Aspirin you should look for an APS-specialist. Perhaps you need something more than Aspirin.

You live in Wales look at huges-syndrome.org/selfhelp...

Come back whenever you want to. You are welcome!

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm

From the prolonged DRVVT it looks like a Lupus Anticoagulant has been detected. Since you are not on blood thinners, this test is accurate. I think a Hematologist will retest you again in 12 weeks, and if you still have a prolonged clotting time, you should receive a diagnosis of APS/HUGHES. It is not normal to have a prolonged clotting time in the absence of Heparin or Warfarin treatment. I think your doctor referring you to Hematologist is a good call. I hope you get some answers soon.
