Hyper Parathyroid does go along with Kidney Disease. I have APS, SLE, and Kidney Disease and have a hyper Parathyroid. When you have Kidney Disease Vitamin D does not process in the kidneys the way it should. I take Zemplar (an artificial Vitamin D) daily to keep this condition under control. The Parathyroid is different than the Thyroid. You have 4 of them on each side of your neck area. This is the way my Nephrologist (Kidney doctor) explained it to me. Hope this helps.
