Hi there, Some patients with Hughes Syndrome have Sjogrens Disease, with Sjogrens Disease some patients can develop this type of cancer, as a complication of Sjogrens Disease so not a direct link to Hughes Syndrome/APS. However as Professor Hughes himself often correctly points out there is a typical trio of disease which exists, which is Hughes Syndrome, Sjogrens Disease and Thyroid problems. Hope this helps. Hi Molly
Sorry to hear about your family's illness. There is no known link between the two conditions, but I am sure there will be a lot of research into this in the future.
My father died of non Hodgkin's lymphoma last year, but one of the early symptoms was autoimmune hemolyptic anaemia. He was treated by wonderful Haematolgists at the Royal Gwent and they said they felt there could be connections.
It might be worth asking your question to Anita from Lifeblood, the thrombosis charity as they deal with the whole range of blood diseases.
I do not know that this has been researched per se, but I suspect there may be a connection. I have APS, and while never tested, my father is described as having "thick blood." His father, uncle, and grandfather all died of leukemia. This does not seem coincidental. Perhaps there is a genetic connection.
Hi
This is a question I have asked of severeal doctors including my rheumatologist, APS expert and been told " no there isn't". I have APS and my brother has CLL. He does not have any drastic sysmptoms, but my APS gets worse all the time. Who knows, maybe ther is a connection. There is no other record of either condition in the rest of our family.
BillyBean.
My husband is the one with APS and his father died in his 40's of Leukemia. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
