Always ill

In the last year I seem to catch colds and cheat infections so much more often then normal. I always seem to be ill. I get better then the dizzy comes back with a vengeance and just as I start to feel "normal" again I get another cold or whatever. It's like a vicious circle. Am I the only one???

Hi Charlie, how you doing today?

You're not the only one, I get colds a lot, and I'm always there when there's a chest, throat or ear infection available. I'm suffering terribly with mouth ulcers at the moment though, absolute agony. Think I'd rather have a runny nose!

Take care

Hello. Thanks for the reply. Yeah I had the worst cough and my lungs feel like they are on fire. And again the dizzy is back I feel like I'm on the lean lol. My mouth is also sore and I keep getting cramp in my calf every time I try to sleep. Not nice. Xx

Sorry, but I should have asked if you've tried menthol crystals. When I'm coughing, and congested, they're the best thing at night to help you get to sleep. Just dissolve some in boiling water and put the jug on your bedside table. The steam will stop you getting blocked up when you're lying down, and help take away some of the fiery chest pains. They really help me, worth a mention, just dont put too many in the jug at once, they'll make your eyes water!!

You can get them in any pharmacy. They are about £3.50 for a little container that should see you right for about a fortnight. Just ask the pharmacist for them. Well worth every penny if you can get some sleep I say. I've been using them for years, as I don't like taking tablets (lol)!!! Was a good way to avoid it really.

Hi

My advice: seriously predictable for me (sorry) is to try and get out and about more... I don't know how much exercise you are able to get but walking about outside, breath in some air and get moving, that will help get those white blood cells mobilised so that you can fight things off more easily... it will also boost the endorphins and make you feel happier...

"Endorphins ("endogenous morphine") are endogenous opioid peptides that function as neurotransmitters. They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates during exercise, excitement, consumption of spicy food, love and orgasm, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a feeling of well-being." extract from Wikipedia - I had to check I was telling the truth! Hey, you could eat more spicy food...

anyhoo, Hope you feel better soon. (hope this didn't sound patronising or anything, wasn't supposed to!)

Take care

Tx

Oh, I meant to add: I have a transplant and APS and Lupus SLE so my immune system has been shut down so much. I also spend 2 hours a day on an air conditioned train and 8 hours a day in an open plan air conditioned office in London. I get a fair few colds and cough and bugs but they don't last too long - I attribute this to the amount of time I spend outside - min 2 hours a day walking dogs or jogging or riding horses... Get well soon! Tx
